IICP laptop recommended specifications March 2023
These recommendations should be seen as guidelines for laptop requirements in IICP College. Please get advice from your hardware provider.
Type of Processor
Intel Core i-5 or i-7 (7th Generation and above) or AMD Ryzen 3rd Generation Processors, running at 2.0Ghz and above. Apple computer 2019 intel models and later, Apple MI and later.
RAM
Random Access Memory (RAM): 8 Gigabytes minimum, 16 is better.
Storage
Solid State Drive Capacity: 256 Gigabytes minimum if you are storing in the cloud.
WIFI
Wireless Card: 802.11 a/b/g/n compliant with Bluetooth Capability.
Graphics
Graphics Card: Intel HD Graphics/AMD Radeon™ Graphics/NVidia Quadro
Network
Network card: A 10/100/1000 baseT Ethernet Interface
USB
USB Ports: between two USB Ports, with at least one USB 3.0 or USB Type-C ports. You may need to purchase a ‘Type-C to USB Converter’ if the laptop has no USB Ports, like some of the newer MacBook’s and Windows Laptops. USB/Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter (for Apple Macintosh), USB to Ethernet adapters (for Windows) to use the Ethernet Network Connection Ports in the college.
HDMI
HDMI access port to connect to projectors for presentations. It is possible to buy USB to HDMI adapters and this will involve updating software.

IICP does not recommend Chromebooks due to their limited functionality.
It is an expectation that each student has a smart phone to download our Digital ID student card. We use this card to communicate out to students on weather warnings and Health & Safety issues. The phone can also be used as a back up to tether for internet access to access Moodle and email.
