Learn practical Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) skills to support therapeutic change.
This certificate course introduces the core principles and techniques of CBT, one of the most widely used evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Participants learn how thoughts, emotions and behaviours interact and how CBT interventions can support positive psychological change. The course combines theoretical understanding with practical application relevant to clinical and professional settings.

Overview
Introduction
The course consists of four full teaching days and a half-day tutorial. Learners have eight months to complete their practice work and should be working or volunteering in a supportive capacity upon application. They will engage in theoretical and practical training in CBT (considering Ellis and Beck). The course is highly interactive and uses a variety of teaching and learning methods.
Who Should Apply
Applicants must demonstrate relevant experience working with people in a responsible and caring role. They must be in a work setting or role that provides opportunities to apply their learning from this course, such as paid or voluntary work within the helping professions, counselling support services and/or project or community work. IICP College does not provide placements for this course.
Entry Requirements
Applicants need a minimum of a Level 8 degree in counselling and psychotherapy or a similar Level 8 degree in the allied helping/supporting professions (for example, counselling, psychotherapy, social care, social work, psychology, medicine, nursing or teaching).
For applicants whose first language is not English, they will need to submit an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) certificate at Level 6.5 or equivalent. (View more information)

Paula is an Organisational Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology, along with a professional qualification in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), the earliest form of CBT. She studied under Windy Dryden, Professor of Counselling at Goldsmiths College, University of London, and has been in private practice for over 21 years. She is a founding member of the Institute for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (ICBT) and currently serves as Director of Professional Affairs.
