Blended Learning Delivery

This course is delivered through blended learning, with students rotating monthly between onsite and online classes. Onsite classes take place in our Tallaght campus. Our blended learning classes are run as tutorials, which involve students and their lecturer logging in to our online learning platform and using Zoom simultaneously.

Zoom provides an integrative online environment for students and lecturers to interact and engage in learning. It facilitates discussion polls, slide sharing, videos, resource sharing and much more. To foster more intimate learning environments, breakout rooms are also used, enabling safe, experiential triadic learning.

All our sessions are accessible on computers and mobile devices, and our dedicated IT department supports faculty and students throughout their online learning journey. To promote flexibility and best practice, all sessions are recorded and made accessible exclusively to students enrolled in the class for review at their convenience.

Student Benefits and Support

Because this award is conferred at Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ), it evidences the rigour required for a quality programme of learning. The dynamic mix of theory, skills and clinical work ensures learners grow academically, professionally, personally and interpersonally within frameworks that are on the cutting edge of best practice.

Assessment
  • Learners are required to submit a case study where CBT has been integrated into their supportive work with an existing client, patient, service user, student and so on in a workplace setting. They should critically evaluate CBT and its application to the work they are doing with clients. The use of outcome measures will inform learners’ evaluation of their practice.
  • Learners are required to evidence 33 hours of work-based practice with an existing caseload from their current volunteer or employed work, over eight months. A log of completed hours and a supervisor’s report must be submitted at the end of the course. Learners must complete supervision at a minimum ratio of 1:20. Supervisors contracted to provide this supervision must be suitably qualified to do so.
