Introduction

Introduction to working with Parents experiencing Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders. With more awareness of the prevalence of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and with more clients accessing services for their mental health, it is important that clinicians have a good understanding of how to work with this cohort. This training will take a deep dive into the transition to parenthood and what that looks like in relation to mental health. It aims to walk participants through Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders and reproductive trauma, explaining how they present and how they can be worked with in the therapy space as well as in other health and community settings. The aim is to upskill workers with knowledge and practical skills to support this cohort.

  • Anxiety/Depression
  • PTSD
  • Birth Trauma
  • OCD
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Psychosis
  • Eating Disorders in the Perinatal Period
  • Grief and Loss
  • The transition to motherhood to parenthood

Michelle Flynn
Michelle is an IACP accredited Psychotherapist with over ten years’ experience working with children, adults, and couples. Michelle has worked mainly in trauma and has experience providing clinical line management in a busy low-cost counselling practice, as well as teaching on the IICP Masters.  In recent years Michelle has completed extensive training in Perinatal and Infant Mental Health and now primarily works with Parents during the perinatal period and their Infants. Michelle is passionate about educating professionals and parents about Matrescence & The transition to Motherhood’ as well as Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
