Introduction

This workshop introduces learners to the concept of trauma informed assessment in child and adolescent practice.

Course Content

How do we make assessments more trauma informed? This workshop will be a mix of theoretical and practical inputs, and learners will be encouraged to consider how assessment can be trauma informed.

  • Applying key trauma informed concepts to assessment
  • Making assessment relational, safe, regulating and culturally aware
  • Strength’s language, communication and mindset in assessment, feedback and reports
  • Trauma Informed creative Assessments
  • Tools, assessment, and measures. Including general distress, disorder specific, wellbeing measures, idiographic and satisfaction measures
  • Child centred, engaging and creative assessment

  • This workshop is for mental health practitioners who are working with/interested in learning more about trauma informed assessment with children and adolescents.

Gayle Doyle holds a Master’s Degree in Practice Based Play therapy, a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Care and Education, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Play Therapy.

Gayle is a play psychotherapist and the company director of Butterfly Children Ltd. She is accredited with the International Board of Examiners of Certified Play Therapists and the Irish Association of Play Therapy and Psychotherapy. She has worked for the HSE, Barnardos and in private practice as a child and adult psychotherapist.
