Introduction

This innovative training will explore the integration of a solution focused approach to enhance professional practice with children and adolescents. It will offer a space to explore the issues of adolescence and the implications for the engagement with clients in these stages of transition. The workshop will focus on the use of SFBT as part of a proactive approach to engaging children and adolescents.

Course Content:

In this one day introductory workshop, participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of a proactive approach to working with children & Adolescents
  • Learn about developmental considerations when working with young clients
  • Learn the tenets of solution-focused therapy in relation to clinical work with minors
  • Practice solution focused questions and techniques for goal setting, scaling, and focusing on strengths

  • This course is suited for Counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and therapists-in-training who want to learn more about the subject area.

Gayle Doyle is the Programme Leader on our MA in Integrative Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy. She holds a Master’s Degree in Practice Based Play Therapy, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Creative Supervision, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Play Therapy, a Bachelor’s Degree in EarlyChildhood Care and Education and a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. She is an accredited psychotherapist and supervisor with the Irish Association of Play Therapy and Psychotherapy. She is a Senior Associate Member of The Association for Psychodynamic Practice and Counselling in Organisational Settings.
