IICP Education & Training

Diploma in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy

This Diploma Course offered by the Institute of Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy is now entering its sixth year at the Killinarden Enterprise Park, Tallaght, Dublin 24.

This course is recognized by The Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and is designed for people who wish to become professional counsellors or who wish to upgrade their qualifications base, or who have an opportunity to use counselling skills as part of their work, either in a paid or voluntary capacity.

Application is open to mature students (over 23 years) with an established interest in and commitment to the use of counselling or counselling techniques as part of their work. It is designed to introduce students to a practical cutting-edge approach to counselling and to provide training and education to the wider community.

This course integrates the successful and well-established cognitive-behavioural model of Choice Theory/Reality Therapy/Lead Management with the Person Centred Counselling philosophy and the newer Multicultural Counselling and Therapy approach. This particular combination is chosen to assist counsellors in understanding present-day counselling and psychotherapy from a practical culture-centred perspective, while simultaneously including traditional individual approaches to the field.

The diploma Course provides comprehensive training that meets the required standards for professional accreditation (subject to the completion of post-diploma counselling hours as required by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). The course is cognitive-behavioural and integrative in approach embracing the concepts of choice theory, person-centred counselling and multicultural counselling and therapy.

Due to the many (and varied) responsibilities adult learners carry, a system of student care and support of participants is integral to the Training Programme.
