Foundation Course in Counselling & Psychotherapy |
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: To develop basic applied counselling skills; To introduce participants to the major theoretical approaches; To prepare for entry into further training; To develop increased effectiveness in helping roles and relationships; To increase your emotional intelligence, self awareness and self understanding; To provide independent guidance on further training and career options. COURSE CONTENT: • Introduction to theoretical approaches to counselling, e.g. person-centred, cognitive- behavioural, multicultural, and existential models. • Personal development • Introduction to counselling skills COURSE STRUCTURE: The programme is highly interactive and taught through role-play, lectures, group work and audio/video presentations. The ethos of the course reflects the Quality School model of CT/RT/LM, which promotes a warm, safe environment that is free from fear, criticism and coercion. Participants will have the opportunity to produce and participate in individual written assignments, group projects and group work. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: This course is suitable for those seeking to pursue their awareness and development in the field of counselling and/or who work in the helping/ caring professions. This course also may serve as a foundation for those who are seeking entry to core training programme in Counselling and Psychotherapy. On successful completion of this course graduates will receive a Foundation Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy. VENUE IICP Education and Training, Killinarden Enterprise Park, Killinarden, Dublin 24 COST: €1,050.00 SCHEDULE OF DATES: This course runs over a period of 20 sessions, starting in October 2010 and finishes in April 2011. The course is facilitated on a weekly basis (excluding holidays) on Thursday evenings from 7pm – 10pm. Schedule of dates are as follows: Thursday 21st October 2010 OR This course runs for over a period of nine months with 12 sessions in total, starting in October 2010 and concluding in June 2011. Each day runs from 9.30am to 4pm. The schedule of dates is as follows:
